Our qualified doctor is a specialist is low vision rehabilitation.  A New Orleans native, Dr. McGinn is a graduate of the University of New Orleans.  He received his Doctorate of Optometry at the Southern College of Optometry and his low vision training at the Lighthouse International in New York.  Dr. McGinn has dedicated his career to working with patients who suffer with low vision.  His expertise and personal attention ensure that each patient will receive the best possible care.

Our comprehensive low vision care involves:

• A thorough eye exam and patient evaluation

• An individualized rehabilitation treatment program

• Dispensing of assistive devices and equipment training

• Daily living and visual skills training

• Area resource and support group referrals

• Bioptic driving evaluations 

Reimbursement:

The Low Vision Center is an approved Medicare provider.  Medicare reimburses for the initial consultation and follow-up visits but does not cover refractions or low vision assistive devices.  Commercial insurance patients should contact their insurance company to verify coverage.  Patients are responsible for obtaining referrals from their primary care physician if required by their insurance company.
